Though it was determined that apes have also a menstrual cycle, there is no evidence that they are also experiencing aging process or ending up their fertility years. This is a question that no primatologists have never been able to answer. But while no one is ready to declare that gorillas menopause, the Dallas Zoo is pretty sure of their observations to gorillas, birds and bees. But the bases for menopause are still open to debate, even in humans, according to the latest article. And still according to Todd Bowsher, mammal curator at the Dallas Zoo’s Wilds of Africa exhibit and a reproductive biologist, “More research is needed before scientists can state concretely that gorillas go through menopause.”
