Gum disease can silently take away your dental health. It has practically affect people around the world, and can already be called an epidemic. Gum disease can come in many forms, from simple gum inflammation (gingivitis) to infection to the gums, bones and other tissues surrounding the teeth (irreversible periodontitis). There are many consequences of gum disease that people can pick up. Those who are suffering from gum disease are more prone to having a heart attack or stroke because the bacteria-rich plaque that cause gum disease can travel through the body via the blood stream. There are other health problems linked to gum disease such as pancreatic cancer, respiratory diseases, kidney disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach ulcers and even pregnancy complications. It is imperative to have superior oral hygiene and regular dental consultation to avoid the complications brought about by gum disease.
